Hi Colin and interested parties,
Probably the easiest would be for your friend to download a demo version of Omnipage, or other Optical character recognition software and to load the image file and then perform recognition on it and save it to text. With OP14 this works quite well and I think you can have a 30-day trial version.
I thought .wpd files were WordPerfect, but I'm really not sure; in any case, I think if you do a google-search on the extension, you'll find quite easily what it means.
Hope this helps, you can contact me off-list if you need more info. If he wants, your friend can send me a file and I'll try to scan it. As I'm at work, though, I can't do too many.
All the best, have a nice day,
Séverine
