Here's a summary of the responses I got to my request for an accessible
antivirus application. Many of the responses contained more information
than I'm summarizing here. I want to thank everyone for their response!
Three people recommended ABG from http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 or
http://www.grisoft.com. There's a free and a paid version.
Three people recommended nod 32 at http://eset.com, and one said it was
fairly accessible. It isn't free.
One person also said that Micro Trend's product was semi-accessible. I'm
assuming this is not free.
One person said norton 360 was unaccessible. Another said that Norton
2007 was somewhat accessible, requiring some experimenting and clicking
around. Obviously, this isn't free.
One person said McAffee is a horror. This also isn't free.
Right now I'm trying the free version of AVG. There's also a trial of
their paid version. If I like the free version, I'll pick one of the
paid versions and give it a try. Right now, it seems very accessible.
NOD 32 also has a 30 day trial. I'll give that a try, unless I decide
I'm just completely happy with AVG.
Again, thanks for everyone's help!
