Motherboards often come with an insert plate customized to accommodate
their combination of connectors, which will fit the space in most standard
ATX cases.
Unfortunately, you almost certainly have a model-specific custom Compaq
case. In addition to fitting specific Compaq motherboard models, you're
likely to find that the power supply is very close to the exact power
requirements of the original system configuration, and probably inadequate
for the Athlon XP.
So I recommend the purchase of a new case with power supply. These
routinely can be found for $40-120; larger ones are likely to offer more
expansion options and heftier power supplies.
