Haruna,
It's good to know that at least one other member of my Aberdeen Class of 88
is alive and kicking. Thanks for info and please help me with his contact
off the bantaba.
With regards to Mathlab and Atlas of the Gambia, I will be happy to work
with anyone who has better skills and ideas on how to use Mathlab in the
project.
Malanding

Suntou and Malanding,
I think this is a worthy exercise in as much as Gambia's development
potential is concerned. To catalog the human potential especially that which
has been voluntarily and involuntarily exported. The poorest countries are
often, perversely, net exporters of both human and financial capital (Dr.
Jeffrey Sachs, UN Millennium Project - in Scientific American).
On a different note, Malandikukeh, a few days ago I was speaking with a
mutual friend who was a classmate of yours in Scotland (name withheld for
privacy reasons). I shared with him that I have just been introduced to
MATLAB and I found it a marked and refreshing improvement over Fortran in
that it is not only the laqnguage for All Engineers but now for a broader
spectrum of statisticians and modellers. Although I am not totally
proficient in it yet, but its treatment of arrays and matices can be useful
in your project of Atlas of Gambia and indeed in more areas of demographic
studies. Our friend agrees and seems to desire it over SAS even though he is
not yet familiar with it. I wonder if you're aware of it or if you are
familiar with MATLAB. If not, I recommend it.
Haruna.
