EDITORIAL
We are now convinced beyond reasonable doubt that President Yahya Jammeh is living in a state of fear these days. That he is hunted by what the wollofs called "NDANDI GENEH" In short it means Jammeh is being hunted by devils drums. Such drums are heard, but not easily traced. Jammeh is between the devil and the sea. He does not know who is who in his government today and had dreamt of his down fall.
Fellow Gambians, the arrest of Abdoulie Conteh or Lie Conteh, Edward Singhateh, Baboucarr Jatta and Lang Tombong Tamba is a tip of the ice berg. We do know that Gambia's intelligence cricles are currently investigating reports of an alleged coup plot against Jammeh. The pro government News paper, The Daily Observer today reported that Conteh was being held on alleged subversive activities. But the paper will not say what these activities were.
Our findings revealed that a list of government officials and soldiers are lined up for questioning. Jammeh is worried about the intelligence report he received and is kind of worried about the longevity of his administration. We learnt from reliable sources that the President had these days stop criss crossing between Kanilai and Banjul. That he had opted to stay in Banjul for now. We have also been informed that Jammeh was advised by his "Marabout" in a neighbouring country, who told him to hand over the country, as there are indications that his administration will soon be history.
Whether Gambians will buy such Marbout predictions or "Lesteeharrs" or not Yahya Jammeh knows what is at hand today. He is aware of the growing discontent in the army and the civil populace. Many government officials working with Yahya will privately tell you that "this man is a mess and we really want to see somebody to bail us from such a despot." Some will even went to the extent of telling you that "With Jammeh, nobody is safe in this country. He is unpredictable. We are all leaving in perpetual fear and uncertainty."
A highly placed sources in the heart of Yahya's government have even hinted to us yesterday about Yahya suspending all future overseas trips, in view of what these well trustable and unshakable sources called "Jammeh's uncertainty about his administration's future. That he does not trust the army and some people working with him."
We at the ALLGAMBIAN are not surprised about Lie Conteh's arrest and such arrests are not new in today's Gambia. The system is crumbling and they will end up eating each other before Yahya will dance to his music. This is not a joke. Gambians should not be surprised, if Yahya will turn out one morning and accused Vice President Isatou Njie Saidy of subversive activities. Here is a man who does not trust his right hand these days. Close associates of Yahya said, Jammeh hardly sleep these days, following the Marabout's "lesteeharr" that he is on the brink of falling as a leader. We do not want to name the said Marabout, but Yahya himself knows what we are saying. This is a highly respectable Marabout in the SeneGambian sub-region. Sources say his predictions usual don't fail.
Having said this, we want to inform Gambians that a source close to Yahya's administration had promised to spill the beans regarding the Central Bank shooting incident, the April 10, students massacre and other state security issues. We have been in touch with the said patriotic source, who is determined to share his story with Gambians. The reports we heard so far, are worrying and damaging. The said source had promised to speak to us on condition of anonymity and once we are done with our investigations Gambians will be informed accordingly. I asked Gambians to join me in praising the said source, for his patriotism and love for The Gambia and her people. God willing, we will publish our findings for all to digest.
We do know that Yahya is trying to trace those exposing his secrets to The ALLGAMBIAN. He will fail miserably in his drive to clamp down on such decent Gambians. We are capable of eliciting information from Yahya's own bed room, if we wanted. We have the connections and the know how. This is not a bluff. Jammeh will be shocked in days to come......
Back to Lie Conteh's arrest, we are surprised that the the KMC Lie Conteh fan club are silence over their pay master's arrest. What happened to the said fan club? Have they disowned Lie? We need answers. It is imperative to note that, when Conteh was fired some years ago, it was the same fan club who stormed the state house in Banjul, asking Jammeh to reinstate him with immediate effect. Jammeh, could not withstand the pressure, but had to bow down to the demonstrator's request to reinstate Conteh.
One thing is clear though, Lie Conteh had a beef with Jammeh some couple of months ago. Conteh was one of those Mayors, who openly criticised the new local government act, which sought to limit the financial benefits of Mayors and their powers. Conteh was said to have written a letter opposing such changes in the country's by law reforms. It was Conteh's contention that it was "outrageous and totally unfair" for President Jammeh to hijack their powers and would even be empowered to sack them without following the right constitutional procedures. The said letter provoked an acrimonious relationship between the two, prompting President Jammeh vowing to sack Mayor Conteh and Jeng of Banjul, who both voiced their opposition to the President's move to undermine them. We had the said letter of Lie Conteh and wouldn't mind to publish it here verbatim for all to see.
We even gathered that Conteh was trying to resist arrest. He has good reasons to resist arrest, since the big thief Yahya is still at large. Yahya Jammeh is behind Gambia's economic and political woes today. As long as continues to be a President, more Gambians will taste "Baba Jobe's" five star Hotel. Yahya will no doubt be the biggest of the said hotel, as his "Marabout" had told him on on uncertain terms that his days are numbered. We are waiting for the day, when journalists, human rights lawyers, observers and concerned Gambians will struggle in court rooms to see Yahya facing justice. This day is coming and is inevitable. Take note of this Yahya. Most of the things we reported about Yahya, Gambians are living witnesses to it today. There are more to come.
On a final note, we want assure Gambians, that we will not retreat on our quest to salvage our mother land. Evils, such as Yahya will be exposed beyond redemption. We will continue to report the truth and nothing but the truth. We have a mission and must accomplished such a worthy mission, God willing. Mad Jammeh and his devils drums continues. We wonder, if you will ever trace such drums, as they heard in every corner of the state house. Perhaps, on your way out, you will be told who were beating such drums. Down with Jammeh and his government. A new Gambia is inevitable. We rest our case.
