when using IRLP it is very much using frequencies...you can not use IRLP
unless you use a Radio first.
Echolink though you are right about using computers...although, many people
prefer to use the radio links instead of the direct PC link.
I whole heartedly agree with echolink and IRLP for international nets simply
because it makes it much much easier and more accessible to those who may
not have the capability for running HF.
Not only that, one does not have to concern oneself with bad propigation and
trying to use bands such as 80 meters where there is allot of noise
sometimes and antenna systems are in many cases to large for hams to set up.
It would be pretty hard to run a US/Canadian net such as the one on node
9205 using 80 or 40 meters since the check ins come from all over the place
where those bands certainly would not have propigation all at the same time.
There is a handicapped net on 20 meters on 14.287 every day until 04 hundred
UTC that one can check into.
I am sure there are others scattered around HF but, as i said, I wouldn't
necessarily know about them because they happen on bands and in areas that
i simply can't hear at the times the nets happen.
