Hi Tom:
I bought a smart charger from my local Walmart store for about $18.00.
I use it on the battery in our lawn mower and leave it on all the time.
It has three lights on it:
red for charging,
yellow for stand by,
Green when battery is fully charged.
You can use a light probe to see which light is on.
It puts out about 1/2 amp.
It does a great job for me.
