I'm in Canada. This is a recent case of incorrect labelling on a vitamin
supplement bottle. The ingredient in question was milk not gluten, but
it is an example of what can easily happen.

I originally contacted the company to double-check the GF-CF status and
ask if diarrhea was a normal side-effect of starting an acidophilus
product, and the rep at WN Pharmaceuticals [www.webbernaturals.com ]
sent me the product monograph which said it contained the allergens;
starch and lactose.

I had chosen this particular product because the package said:
Acidophilus with Bifidus
Non Dairy
Contains no artificial sweeteners or preservatives, colour, dairy,
starch, wheat or yeast.
The ingredient list did not indicate the presence of starch or lactose.

When I called back to question this, I was told "our product has had
some changes made to the formulation and therefore it now does contain
[corn] starch."

Janice.
