On the subject of blood tests for kids under age 5...

My 17 year old daughter has celiac, so we had our other children tested
(blood tests). The boys were all negative but my youngest daughter (who
was then 2) had elevated IgG levels so we had genetic testing done on
her. She does carry the gene for celiac but has no symptoms.

She is now almost 5 and I'm wondering if we should have her re-tested?
We were also told the boys could not pass celiac on to their children
since they don't carry the gene, but she could.
She is not gluten free at this point, and still is symptom-free.

My husband and I both tested negative for celiac, and we have no family
history, so we do not know how my 17 year old ended up with celiac. She
had a serious illness and several abdominal surgeries at age 13, and
continued to have abdominal pain after her recovery. The surgeon
thought she might have bowel adhesions from all the surgeries so he sent
her to a GI doctor for a colonoscopy and EGD. Everyone was shocked when
they saw her EGD and then the biopsy results.
