I am curious...
How many times (at what products) have you found Gluten contained within "Natural Flavors" or "Spices"?
Since I was diagnosed about 4 months ago I have looked into 20 or so "questionable" products to ensure that they did not contain gluten within these ingredients. I have not come up with a single instance where I found gluten. I have looked into things like hot sauces, mustards, canned tomatos, ect.
Obviously if you are going to make something a staple of your diet you will want to verify it explicitly. However if you are a guest in someone's house and want some mustard on your hamburger... or they used a can of Hunts tomatoes instead of Del Monte in a dish, I want to know my odds.
Doing this is calculated risk, but so is ordering a "GF item" in a restaurant.
