Good day to all!

I have acquired a Compaq 1200 laptop with a non-viable battery. Whether the
battery is in the compartment or not there is a popping sound that can be
heard when I switch off the unit. Is this normal? Will operating the laptop
with the battery removed cause any problems? The members of this list have
helped me before with their collected experience and I hope that I can
learn from them the answers I need.
