Only way to copy or decode s s b is to add a carier.  Side band, whether
single or double, is just e audio portion of the transmition.  One trick I
did years ago, and I don't even remember the value was on a Laffayete he
20.  This was a cb rig I converted to ten meters.  I made a feed back loop
through a switch a very high resister and a capacitor in series.  This
went from output of last if state to input of first if stage.  This, when
adjusted right, created just enough of a carier to beat against the ssb
signals.  Actually worked quite well.
