My fasting glucose is 99 despite a fairly low carb intake and almost no
fruit. I occasionally split a sour apple with my husband. I don't drink
caffeine anymore and I don't eat sugar of any kind. I considered the protein
reduction because of Rosedale's concept. I am also concerned about too much
protein ultimately "converting" to fat and I don't mean the protein actually
turns into fat and calcium being leached from my bones.
I am also hungry after every meal yet I am maintaining my weight - which has
gone up beginning of the year and hasn't come back down - so I am concerned
about increasing caloric intake. My thought was that my ratios are off?!
Kristina > When I entered my food into fitday my carbs were around 10 -
15 % of my caloric intake.
Jim > The point in limiting protein, at least for me, is to prevent excess
protein from being converted to glucose. If you're consuming carbs,
that benefit is null. Perhaps there are other benefits to limiting
protein such as the reduction of the negative byproducts of
gluconeogenesis.
