It's just your standard BMR test and an exercise test. You are wearing a
breathing mask for both. The BMR is done first thing in the morning before
eating or exercising and at complete rest for about 30 minutes. The exercise
test was done on a treadmill at varying speeds and inclines. Based on my
oxygen output/intake during those two tests he determined my BMR, my target
HR zones, and more.
