--Did you gradually change your eating habits, or abruptly change
>everything at once?
I changed gradually, but everybody is different. If you can do it cold
turkey I would. It doesn't hurt to try.

--Do the cravings go away, and when?
I think I stopped craving sweets for maybe 2 days (was addicted to Splenda)
and now I may crave them very occasionally if my hormones are whacky

--Anyone here have diabetes and care to share if you've experienced any
--recovery? Were your docs on board? Mine are anti-low-carb.

--Anyone lose a significant amount of weight? How long did it take? Did
-->you have to do anything besides eating paleo (count calories, limit
>certain --foods, etc.)?
I got more lean (less muscle more fat). Currently I have health problems so
it's a little harder, but if you stick to paleo foods only you shouldn't
have problems losing weight. If you do, then you can cut back on fruits and
see if that helps.

--If you had a small book budget, which would you buy? I bought Neanderthin
(it was 6.99) at Borders but didn't see the others I've seen referenced
online.

--Also, where do you get your food? I don't want to eat grain-fed meat. But
>I also wanna be able to keep putting money in my son's college fund! Did
>your food bill go up when you started buying nuts and meats and lots of
>nut butters and flours and organic produce? I'm assuming that it'll even
>out since I won't be buying all the other stuff - ?
We have three different health food stores and all carry organic meats,
nuts, veggies, etc. and yes, it is more expensive. I am not strict on buying
organic veggies and fruits, but I am with the meat because I don't want
anti-biotics or hormones in my meat, aside from the grains. We are also
lucky in that we have a farm close by called white egret. They raise
turkeys, pigs, goats, cows, and chickens organically and grassfed. They
deliver for $3 and the prices are reasonable. I believe you can get items
shipped, too. Check www.whiteegretfarm.com. I also buy elk and venison from
www.uselk.com

--Is flax paleo?

--Do you take supplements?
Yes, but I have quite a few health problems and wasn't getting anywhere
without them. I am tapering off now and hope I will not have to take any
aside from my natural hormones (I've had a hysterectomy).

--Finally, anyone know of a paleo egg substitute? I'm allergic, and all of
>the replacers I know of are either soy or potato. I've tried bananas with
>somewhat mixed results.
If you find one, please let me know because I am in the same boat. I have
not been able to find anything.
