Now that Ben is getting an SSDI or social security disability check, we
received a letter saying his Medicaid the program that pays for his many
medications and doctor visits will stop as of October 1st. He had
low-income Medicaid, he now makes too much money for that, his check is
around $1400.00 a month, he could apply for adult Medicaid but his income is
counted, he would have to spend at least 1000 dollars a month in medical
costs out of pocket in order to receive Medicaid for that month!!!
so if you have enough money to live on, you can't get help. I have
contacted a program that is ran by the medication manufacturers that
assists patients with paying for medications, so that will probably help.
But I am concerned because Ben will not be able to visit eye doctors and the
kidney doctor he was seeing.
I could look in to private health insurance, but that would be outrageous if
I could even find any.
So, that is where we are. Ben isn't feeling well lately, always tired, I
guess it's all those different medications, he says his eyes are worse,
Rhonda
