Thats a matter of opinion.
I have always found, and i think i always will find that Yaesu's have the
best transmit audio of all HF radios...right from the older 101E's/301's
right up to todays shack in a box rigs.
Out of the box, they have extremely high quality audio when compared to many
icom/kenwood rigs.
And of course, that is only my opinion.
I think yaesu is a top of the line builder of transceivers both HF and VHF,
its just they aren't accessible, so i don't own one...that doesn't mean i
dont like them as a radio though.
Actually, speaking of accessibility and Yaesu, the FT1000MP is accessible if
you use an old DOS bassed logging software...turbo logger i think? Anyway,
it can give you mode and frequency if you interface the PC with the rig.
And i would think the freq mite would be something most of the newer yaesu
rigs could handle which would give you CW output of the frequency.
