Hi Steve,
Now that you mention it, I've heard that installing the service firmware has
caused alot of problems, so I guess I'll leave things alone though I must
admit that this runs counter to my engineering type personality!

I'll stand corrected if wrong, but I think you have to install service
firmware on the 2000. You can't get it from Kenwood, only for service
techs. It can be had from the net as a bootleg copy.
I think you have to blow out the firmware, install the service firmware,
make your tweaks and reinstall the regular firmware.
