No the control point is actually on UHF and the 2000 transmits back on VHF which is part of the
reason you need a full duplex HT such as the THD7 or a mobile such as the TMD7 It is not strictly
speaking illegal as it does not violate the letter of the law simply its spirit and it was not the
FCC which had a problem with sky command but the ARRL which raised hell about it. Their primary
objection was that VHF and UHF simplex frequencies would be taken up with DTMF C&C tones but
obviously that hasn't happened and the ARRL made it a bigger issue than it would have been in
reality. No surprise there. The radio uses packet to get around this problem and the only
information transmitted on VHF is radio status, your station call in CW, and the output of the HF or
6 meter side That's hardly control it is however the result of C&C sent from a legal C&C frequency
as defined under current regulations. Unless and until Hollingsworth says it's illegal If you have
Sky command, Knock your self out using it! Remember folks this is *Amateur* Radio.

Hi Reeva;

Sky Command is a Kenwood application that will let you control the
TS2000 with the HT Th-d7a.

I have never used it however, you can control almost all the
functions of the radio.

It works because the ht has a built-in tnc.

However, this service is not legal.

I understand the reason why is because the control point is in the 2
meter band.
