I need some suggestions on testing RAM. My computer sometimes locks up where
there is no response and even the mouse does not respond. The only solution
is to press the reset button. Details of the machine:

Intel D845PEBT2 motherboard
2.4G P4 CPU with no overclocking
1 stick Samsung 512M RAM
1 stick of generic 1G RAM
Running XP Pro SP2 with all latest patches. This is a new clean install less
than a month old.

I am suspecting that RAM may be the problem. RAM testing software, however,
shows no problems. The lockup happens almost on a daily basis, and often
occurs when accessing a web page using Firefox or IE. Latest lockup happened
with some video authoring software, however. I suspect that I will need to
replace the RAM to see if it is the problem. My post is to request
suggestions of other paths I can take. Thank you.

Peter
