This reminds me of an episode on Penn Jillette's show where he had someone get
signatures on a petition from people who were at an environmental demonstration.
The petition was to "Ban Dihydrogen Monoxide" (aka H2O, water).

People were told a number of true facts like "The government puts a huge amount
of dihydrogen monoxide in our drinking water reservoirs" and "an excess of
dihydrogen monoxide can be harmful", etc.

IIRC, not one person failed to sign the petition.
