At one time I heard that "celiacs" should not take 5HTP. Why?
I am trying to find a reason, and although I did find that 5HTP can cause gastrointestinal upset when first taking it, I found no warning that celias or anyone else should not take it.
I thought perhaps the pathway it takes in the body may create a hazard, perhaps the production of harmful enzymes. But I can find nothing.
Is there some real study done on the effects of 5HTP that someone can steer me to? I am not interested in anectdotal stories or informal studies. My son is doing great on it but we are concerned about this because he is gluten intolerant.
Thank you,
-Cathy
