Summary Part2: Antibiotic prophylaxis for dental work.
8. Same problem- Not seen a dentist in 5 years. Clean teeth with salt and water-person needs more salt than average person so may not work for everybody. Use grapefruit seed extract-citracidal and monolaurin- a germicidal product to keep the little critters from taking over her mouth. Do not use these at the same time. Wonderful article from Dr. Weil on keeping teeth clean using a number of steps including citricdal and hydrogen peroxide with an eye toward protecting from brain and heart problems due to tooth infection.. Due to dysbiosis on a sugar free, yeast free, etc. free diet as well as gf and dairy free. Take supplements for candida and dysbiosis and has been told will need to be on a form of this diet for the rest of her life. Dysbiosis really hard to conquer. ( Iam also on the sugar free, yeast free, gluten free, and dairy free diet, as well as tomato free due to allergy and take supplements for candida and dysbiosis for the last 18 months).
9. Allergic to cillins. Takes ceclor which is expensive and is gluten free. Cefaclor is gentler on the stomach. Ask which antibiotic has the fewest complaints regarding diarrhea.
10. Person has been a dental assistant for may years. Suggest looking into IV antibiotics which won't be so hard on the stomach. Ask the dentist to do as much work in one visit as possible.
11. Knows a woman who's cardiologist does not believe taking antibiotics prior to dental work is necessary anymore.
12. Clindamycin- hard on the stomach. It is gluten free.
13. Injection of antibiotics prior to dental work. Bacteria gets to the heart via your blood not your GI tract. IV antibiotics will protect your heart.
14. Let the dentist and cardiologist sort it out.
15. 5 day-once a day Amoxicillin causes nasty diarrhea and pain.
16. IV antibiotics or injection. Need to find a permanent solution-this is an ongoing problem.
17. Takes Biaxin without any problem. It is not a good idea to have dental work without an antibiotic if you have a mitral valve prolapse.
