Here is the summary to the following question & thanks to all that replied!
Question: Just curious--do you regularly take stomach-related medications and what for (example, immodium for diarrhea, zantac, pepcid, etc) I will do a summary in a few days. thanks!
Summary:
Zelnorm (ibs-type symptoms?)
2 said Aciphex (an antacid, one said for hiatial hernia)
2 people said Immodium (for diarrhea)
500 mg of Vitamin C/ascorbic acid (otc) (for low stomach acid)
Previcid (Rx)
Antacids as needed (otc)
2 Gas-X (otc)
Gaviscon-Extra Strength (otc)
Amitriptyline (Rx)
Nexium (Rx)
supplemental HCl w/ pepsin & pancreatin with every meal.
Regulan to stimulate bowel function
a good probiotic. We use iFLORA from www.sedonalabs.com
2 said Zantac (heartburn or gerd)
lomotil (for diarrhea)
pepto bismal (otc)
Lactaid (for lactose intolerance)
Many said "NO MEDICATIONS"
& I thought this was a thought-provoking/interesting opinion:
In our experience taking acid blockers (Prilosec etc) or Maalox makes for more indigestion, more constipation and a vicious cycle with heartburn and reflux. God put acid in your stomach to aid digestion and blocking it is only going to cause bacterial and food fermentation/gas problems.
