In years 1999-2000  we used to deal with AMD and they worked fine. The only problem was his high working  temperature, if a cpu fan failed, the cpu was risking its life. 
Now I have lost the track of AMD and would like to know if the ones from these days are so hot too. 
Besides, what is the aproximate Intel  equivalent to a SEMPRON 3000+?
