How big is the partition you have installed to? Is it 9GB and you are using
3GB of it? If so How big is the swap file = pagefile.sys. It is possible
that Windows created itself a 2GB swap file.

If the partition you installed to is only 6 or 7 GB then did you remove the
Linux partition(s)? You can use Windows Disk Manager or something like
Partition Magic to delete any old partitions left on the drive.

If you want to start over it would probably be a good idea to Write Zero
the drive before installing Windows 2000. Go to the hard drives
manufactures web site, and they will most likely have a utility, to be used
for diagnostic purposes which will, in all likelihood, include a write zero
utility. A Write Zero utility writes zeros to the boot sector and every
sector of the drive, effectively erasing it of everything.
