Frankly, I don't know if there is really much difference in the receiver specs
between the 480 and the 746 pro.  The 746 Pro does offer 2 meters, if I recall
correctly.  I don't think the receivers are much different between the two of
them.

The real difference is if you were to look at the 756 or 756Pro.  That has an
extra IF stage and is very selective and has a great noise floor.

Others who have used both rigs might chime in, but I think the 746 and 480 are
fairly comparable.
