In my correspondence with Applebee's concerning milk and gluten, the
corporate company declined to provide any information on allergens since
the individual restaurants get their products from different distributors.


In my book, the best places are the ones that you can form a relationship
with the staff, who are open to listening about your concerns.  Most of
the time, these are not chain restaurants...

What items at Applebee's are dairy free.  We've never been to one, but =
there is one opening up shortly near by.

       Believe it or not, Bertucci's (which is a pizza restaurant in the
  northeast) is very accomodating about dairy allergies. I am milk =
allergic
  and if I tell the server before I order, they will get the manager and =

  will personally watch them prepare my meal to make sure there is no =
cross
  contamination.
       Also, Appleby's has some selections which are dairy free.
       As a precaution, tho, with ANY restaurant you should make it a =
point to
  tell your server before you order that you are allergic to milk and =
cheese
  (some don't think about it and sprinkle grated cheese on pasta before =
it
  comes to the table).
