The principal financer and initiator of this study is United Cerebral
Palsy under the direction of Murray Goldstein. Mr Goldstein has
published about a half dozen "fact sheets" on HBOT which can be found
on the UCP website
(http://www.ucp.org/ucp_generalsub.cfm/1/4/24/24-6608). No "fact
sheet" has anything positive to say about Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.
Nor are there any references or documentation made on any of the
"fact" sheets--which makes them mere opinions.

Eileen Fowler has been identified by the UCLA Internal Review Board
(IRB) as the principal investigator of the study. Ms Fowler is a Phd
physical therapist with no experience with hyperbaric oxygen other
than to ridicule its use for cp at a CME every annual meeting of the
American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine
(AACPDM)(http://www.aacpdm.org) since 2000.

The other co-investigator is Dr William Oppenheim, a loyal, real
company-man-type officer of the AACPDM who has publicly disputed the
results of HBOT for cp since at least 1998 or 1999. I first "met" him
on the old hbo-list in 1999. He is one of the most negative human
beings I've ever attempted to communicate with. You can read his
posts on HBOT from the archives of that list, now publicly accessible
from http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/hyperbaric-list/messages .
Just do a search on his email address: [log in to unmask]

Oppenheim is also a pediatric orthopedic surgeon. He makes his living
with surgical implements that cut nto the flesh of children like
yours and mine, and according to the CDC, our kids cost $503,000 per
kid to take care of. See
http://www.cdc.gov/epo/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00038946.htm . Of
course, that figure is in 1992 dollars and since health costs
generally rise about 10% a year, it's safe to say each cp kid is
worth a million bucks to somebody.

Let's put it this way. In Oppenheim's AACPDM presentations, his most
frequent argument about HBOT is, "who's paying for it?" He doesn't
mind it as long as insurance and/or Medicaid doesn't pay for it.

A well-researched, thoroughly-documented, comprehensive article about
this impending AACPDM-sanctioned, UCP-directed medical fraud can be
downloaded as a pdf file from
http://ihausa.org/newsletters/newsletter/pdf/2004_Oct_Nov.pdf

However, be forewarned. The last section documents Murray Goldstein
publicly stating that when you have a treatment that changes more
than one cp child, it constitutes a trial.

Which means the UCLA HBOT for cp study is unnecessary.

This study will create far more confusion than Canada's Collet study,
Which will doom the hope and future for hundreds of thousands of cp
children.
