Howard,
Look at the specs on your 480, and you'll know. I suspect that the "100
watts" you hear for power level refers to peak power, which means that on
SSB you'll get considerably less if you connect a meter to the radio's
output. Said meter will probably read something much closer to an average
power reading, although I can't say that for sure. As for the 25 watts on
AM, I think that's what the radio is supposed to deliver.
