Here is some info on the 7000 from the Icom listserv. Note that they
nention the voice syhthesizer for freq. readout, so it is apparently
onboard. I have read a proposed price of about $1,500. Lots of
possibilities there, I think.
Thanks.

Here are some answers to previous questions:

One important piece of information is that the IC-7000 uses the same DSP
chips (two of them) as the IC-7800 and IC-756ProIII. If you want to guess
what DSP features it has, take a look at those manuals (filter settings,
PSK/RTTY decode, CW Autotune, TX/RX equalization, etc).

The IC-7000 doesn't have the roofing filters of the 756ProIII but it does
have dual AGC loops that will provide better performance in high RF
(multi-multi) operations than the 706.

The Noise Blanker is implemented in DSP and has ~32 levels rather than just
on/off. There should be some setting that will be satisfactory.

The IC-7000 works with the AH-4 and AT-180 tuners (just like the 706). Both
these tuners handle 100 watts and are larger than the IC-7000 - they won't
fit inside.

It includes both CW and voice memory keyers, in addition to a digital voice
recorder.

The spectrum scope is real-time and has two modes (center and fix) like the
7800 and ProIII.

There is only one VFO so you can't operate two bands simultaneously.

There are 3 filter settings for each mode. They are all customizable. They
can be selected from the menu or by pressing the filter button on the (new)
mike. Pressing the filter button on the mike will temporarily show the
selected filter shape on the display.

The mike also has direct frequency entry and triple band stack registers
(like the numeric panel on the right of the ProIII). It can also switch
modes and activate the built-in voice synthesizer to read the display.
There are also two programmable function keys. The keys allow instant
access to any two features in the menu system.
