I honestly can't send with the paddles, I'm much better, when I do code,
with the straight key, that's how I learned and that's just what I used.

I agree with Ed on this one. I suspect that you may be having trouble
with the straight key because you're not putting it in a position
where it's easily controlled, and/or you don't have it adjusted
properly. Everyone's key is adjusted slightly differently, so you may
eed more spacing, or more tension, or both. And relax. Getting all
tense and stuff won't make it easier.

Having said all that, a good keyer and paddle can be had from several
places. One of my favorite places on the web is
http://www.morsex.com

Although, MFJ makes a fairly basic keyer mounted on a Bencher (or
Bencher clone) paddle, at a cost of right around $100, maybe like
$125. Check HRO, AES, or your favorite other ham radio store
acronym. But understand that sending with a keyer presents its own
challenges.
