There is a lot of confusion with the various messenger programs. You can use
MSN Messenger 6.1 with JFW, but not 7.0. If you have Windows XP, you can use
Windows Messenger, which is fairly equivalent except for some additional
graphics and gaming features.

Jfeff, there is general confusion between Windows Messenger and the Windows
Messaging Service, and it is the latter which is responsible for generating
spam on many people's desktops. The messaging service is in all flavors of
Windows NT, 2000, XP and ME. It is used to broadcast messages on a
network-wide basis. You can disable it manually under your administrative
tools, services directory. Or, go to Http://www.grc.com or
http://www.jfwlite.com under programs and look for the program called "shoot
the Messenger".
