There is really no way to avoid it, XP likes a minimum of 512MB of RAM
although it will run on less. You might be able to slightly improve
performance by limiting the running programs to a minimum.
Also, you can go to www.pcpitstop.com and run the available tests. They
will supply recommendations to tweak the performance of your computer
for free.
