well, hi. i bailed out of alt.support.diet (huh, some 'support' you
get there!) there's quite a ruckus going on there, caused by grant when he
posted about neanderthin and paleo-diets, but i'm afraid i'll have to admit
i fueled the flames, just a tiny bit. i was a vegetarian for 7
years, and if low-fat could make a person lose weight, i would have
disappeared long ago. i just kept gradually gaining weight, and getting more
and more tired, so it was harder and harder to make myself go out and get
any exercise.
in february of this year, i heard of atkins, decided to try it, lost
about 6 pounds in induction, felt better but constipated. then, on the
low-carb list, i heard of neanderthin. sounded similar to atkins, except
for the elimination of dairy and being allowed fruit. ok, sounded good to
me, and since i have a background in biology, the rationale behind the diet
made perfect sense. i felt great --- more energy, more weight off,
constipation gone, skin looking clearer. i'm a convert now. i'm passing
the neanderthin book around to all my friends, to give them the right idea.
so if you had told me a year ago, that i would be eating roast
chicken and broiled steaks and (god forbid -- to a dieter) BACON, and that
i would still lose weight and feel good, well, i'd have said, 'you're
crazy!" but i must be crazy or dreaming, because this is really happening
to me!
        glad to be here. JoAnn.
