VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The Florida <http://www.fddc.org/COUNCIL/Meet%20the%20Members.asp>
Developmental Disabilities Council is seeking individuals who would be
interested in serving on the Council. This is a great opportunity to become
involved in advocacy and initiatives that impact Florida's service system
and help to create an inclusive environment that allows people with
disabilities to reach full potential in all areas of life.

The Governor, with recommendations from the Council, appoints individuals to
the Council. We would like to be able to quickly identify suitable
candidates whenever a vacancy occurs. By federal mandate, over 60% of our
members must be individuals with developmental disabilities or family
members, with one-third of those being self-advocates. The membership must
also be geographically representative of the State and reflect the diversity
of the State with respect to race and ethnicity.

Membership on the Council does require a commitment of a certain amount of
time, willingness to participate in the Council's assessment and planning
activities, and overnight travel for quarterly business meetings of the full
Council and for quarterly task force meetings. There are additional
opportunities to serve and to develop your own leadership skills. Members
of the Council are reimbursed for expenses incurred in carrying out their
duties, however, they do not directly benefit in any way from membership and
must carefully avoid even the appearance of doing so.

The required Questionnaire for
<http://www.fddc.org/COUNCIL/Meet%20the%20Members.asp> Gubernatorial
Appointment can be downloaded or printed out from our website
(www.fddc.org). The completed questionnaire
<http://www.fddc.org/COUNCIL/Meet%20the%20Members.asp> should be mailed to
the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council, Inc., 124 Marriott Drive,
Suite 203, Tallahassee, FL 32301. It does not have to be notarized at this
time. You may also submit the questionnaire
<http://www.fddc.org/COUNCIL/Meet%20the%20Members.asp> as an attachment via
e-mail to [log in to unmask], however, please be aware that the privacy of
information submitted electronically cannot be protected.

We would like to receive new applications prior to November 30, 2005.

We appreciate your support of the Council and ask that you share this
information and encourage anyone to apply who wants to participate in a
statewide organization to enhance the quality of life for Florida's citizens
with developmental disabilities.
