Hi Gary,
I have a 746 Pro and the 480 and love them both. I use the Pro in the shack
and the 480 for portable and field operations. They are both excellent
rigs. The 480 is the tops for accessibility by a blind ham but I feel the
746 Pro has a little quieter receiver and is every bit as selective. Also,
the 746 Pro has a manual notch on it and the DSP noise reduction is
excellent. I feel the receivers in either are superior to the 2000.
I hope that is of some help. If you want to ask me specifics, please feel
free to do that either on or off list.
Good luck and very 73.
