You are not thrilled with ten dollars per month?
What thrills you then?
That's less than the cost of the yearly jfw upgrade, and just a bit more
than the yearly window-eyes upgrade.
The freedombox has a number of flavors.
The latest version which is version 2, has a built in screen reader called
"system access" It doesn't talk with eudora, but it talks fine with
outlook, outlook express, IE, the windows operating system, goldwave,
winamp, spybot but not addaware, because their is no mouse navigation.
It works with word, and excell. Supposed to read powerpoint but not sure
about that all. The service also comes with an ocr program which isn't
bad. The coolest thing is that you can get this on a mini-disk, which can
make any windows machine talk. When you remove the disk, the computer
returns to normal, with no internal system changes.
Don't even think about using the mike to run the program, because it
won't. You can make voice e-mails however which do work.
Especially for a new computer user, this thing is quite good.
