Hi Richard:

Yes, I am using the Butternut HF9V ground mounted with very great success.
If I can help you, just ask away.
I do have ground wires totalling 500 ft. in varing lengths.
I even have a 160 MTR kit on it as well.
The band width on 160 is not very great even with a tuner.
On 80 MTR, with a tuner, I can work the whole phone band.
