I refurbish old computers to give to needy families. Recently I have encountered a problem with setting up the dial-up modems that has me baffled. When I set up the dial-up account, Win 98 automatically sets the selection to "always dial the default connection". After going through a restart, it comes up with"Never dial a connection". This seems to take place even after removing that dial-up account and setting it up again. Also seems to be a problem if I select "Always dial when a connection isn't present".
Any clues as to where Win 98 stores that "Never dial..." setting?
The present machine is a locally built, 700MHz Duron with 512M RAM, 80GB HD, SIS video card, Realtek LAN card, and a Motorola PCI 56k modem.
