Hi Jagpal,

Installing WinXP is just as simple, if not more so, than installing Win9x.
You can format before or during the installation, your choice of either FAT
or NT. Most instructions with new drives now recommend you use the XP
installation to prepare the drive rather than use their software if you plan
to install XP. Note that the NT filing system is recommended for XP.

Formatting does not delete a partition and you would only need to delete or
repartition if you have a need for more than one. Check the following
Microsoft Knowledge Base articles for more information:

Subject: [PCBUILD] Re ; formatting/partitioning a hard drive

I m also interested in learning how to install XP.
For win 98, it was simple, Format the HD and go from there.
But I do not understand why do we have to delete partition etc. Does
formating HD not remove the partition.
Can somebody please give us step bystep instructions
Thanx
