that mic uses all 8 pins I believe. 7 of them anyway.

Very interesting.  I wonder how they did it since the Mic connector has at
least four connections.  Then again, Icom has always been good at designing
tricky circuitry, whereas Kenwood always goes with more conventional
approaches.
