Hi,

First, press and hold the memory button while turning the rig on. It would
appear you should hold the memory button in for a count of about 25 to 30?

Second, I wasn't able to find a button lay out for the front of the radio so
I will give it a run myself.

These of course are multi function buttons but the basics are what is needed
to get started!

Top left of the radio is call.

Second down on the left is vfo and third down is memory!

Across the bottom front of the radio:
function,
is the first button.

Second button, tone, ctcss and low beep is no tone. In order to set the
tone press the function and hit the button right next to it and turn the vfo
to select the right tone.

Third button, is reverse but if you hit ufnction and then hit it you have
offsets. Low tone is simplex, next tone is plus and third beep is minus
offset.

Fourth button, Power output. Low tone is high, next is medium and third
beep is low power.

Fifth button, selects the band. First beep is 118mhz which is a low tone,
second beep is well, better wait on that and the vs3 will tell you anyway.

6th or right hand most button across the front: low tone is brightest
display, next is medium, third beep is low display fourth beep is extra low
and finally shuts the display back lights off.

Top right button, power on and off.

Second button, "PM" useless for now!

3rd button, menu. While trying to select something in menu's or to select a
pl tone or ctcss hit the power out or fourth button across the bottom front
to select the pl tone or go into the menu items.

I know this is crude but hopefully it will help someone. I was totally
loston this radio until one or two of the members on this list helped me out
and I thought I would share my new knowledge. Yes, the radio as most of you
know does speak the pl tone selected!
