Unfortunately, you are correct here.  It is really a shame, but I have both
an Icom 746, and 718, and they are great rigs.  The only negative is the
lack of menu and PL tone accessability, which I have complained to Icom
about on a number of occasions.  I don't know how the Kenwood rigs compare
to my Icoms on receive and other capabilities, but the accessability
problems here are a legitimate issue.
