I don't think you'll regret getting the v7.  I've had mine for many years
and I really enjoy it.  Being able to monitor two bands is great and if
someone starts talking on one band while you are talking on the other, you
can just turn the volume down on that band.

One funny thing though.  Once I was listening to two repeaters, a VHF and a
UHF.  A friend called me on 2 meters and by mistake I replied to him on 440.
It turned out he was also listening to the same two repeaters and we chatted
for several minutes before we realized we were "crossbanding" so to speak.

Nothing wrong withe 707 and I once considered that one, but I figured I
needed dual receive in my situation as well as cross band repeat, so was
willing to give up a little accessability.  Just depends on what you want.
