Maximizing Accessibility in Academic and Public Libraries
EASI voice chat Web Conference April 21 at 1 PM Eastern
Presenters will include:
Susan Gilbert Beck,
Linda Lucas Walling,
Patricia Anderson.

In 2001 the American Library Association established a policy stating that
libraries need to become fully accessible to consumers with disabilities.

Interview with 2001 ALA president, John Berry (requires RealPlayer)

This EASI Web conference presentation will offer a holistic approach to
creating accessible libraries of all types. The initial (free) workshop
will present
the topics in brief and lead to a discussion with potential participants in
the program. This initial overview will be followed by four fee-based workshops
which will continue in depth on the topics during the month of June.

With the coming of the information age, people with disabilities have
access as never before to publications and can now become regular on-site
and on-line
users of libraries.

Registering for this free event will save you a seat in the room. It will
also get you a link afterwards to the recording which means if you miss the
event, you can listen later.

using accessible information technology to open libraries to everyone will
give you the depth you need and will provide ample opportunities for you to
interact with the presenters and also with other participants.
