Thanks for the answer... (You may have the same problem
NOW since you have removed a cable that "may not" have
had a keyway AND the "problem" did not manifest itself...)

I had posted the resolution as part of the thread on this
and another list,  but the resolution might have been buried.
(This is a more specific answer too.)

All cables,  MB, and the floppy drive have keyways.

Single device round floppy cables (3) were made correctly
and were marked correctly.
(Color code was correct on each end, both for pin one
markings and all other wire colors...)

Engineering drawings on the WEB showed without a
doubt where pin one was located on floppy drive.
There was also a small arrow marking on the drive housing
confirming this...

Everything else "appearing correct", the only obvious thing
wrong was the keyway knock-out on the PBC board.
It was NOT knocked out...

A member of another list confirmed there was a batch of
these drive made wrong and that knock-out was NOT
removed at the factory... This confirmed what I already
knew since I had already removed the knockout and had
been using the drive successfully for a day...

Disclaimer: People should be sure of what they are doing
before doing "something like this" other places...
