Your should be well within the 100 m recommended length for Cat 5e cable.
Please make sure it is Cat 5 E cable and that all 4 pair are terminated,
even though only two are used the other two do affect overall operation of
the cable system.
I have had some network cards that just didn't like being used with a
crossover cable. The link light would come on but they would not reliably
transfer data. Either try a different set of NIC or for the price of it I
would just purchase a small hub and use regular patch cables.

Hi,
I'm trying to set up a lan connection between two pc's
connected to a lan cards with a distance of 70 meters
kept away from eachother. ve made a crossover cable to
connect them.
I'm getting connected and the lan card shows the light
glowing but the data transfer is not there cause when
i PING i get " request timed out".
I've even tried out using a 30 meter wire but getting
the same problem. But can ping when using the same
wire of 2 meters.
Please help me out with this problem.
