If the below link works, I think it will take you to HP.com and an
online PDF manual for your ZE 4300. From there you can read how to
install ram and somewhat of a description of the type of ram.

>I'm going out now to buy a pair of RAM cards for my wifes HP laptop, it's an HP Pavillion ZE 4300, with an Athlon processor, and the XP os. I tried to find out what type of memory cards to buy, but I'm not as familiar with XP as I am with W98se. As I searched through the system hardware profiles, I was not able to find out what type memory was in the machine, and ended up calling HP support with my model and serial # info, and after a long battle with broken english, I found that it has a single PC2100 266mhz 200 pin 256mb card in one of 3 card slots. Besides wanting to know how in XP I might find out that particular info from a PC with XP in the future, I would like to know if the cards I may install can be larger than the 256mb in place, and when I do install them should I also remove the battery from the laptop to put them in
