Thanks for all the replies. Many offered helpful information which I will summarize

The interesting thing is that several people told me that it did not matter if there was gluten in the soap unless I had the skin version of celiac, DH. ( I do not have DH, but have had other problems with skin exposure to wheat based starches in hotel sheets and wheat-containing lotions and soaps.)

However, I would like to put forth that perhaps it does matter what you put on your skin. If you are washing your hands and dishes in a soap with wheat in it, and then put your food on the plates and into your mouth OR (especially with children) put your hands in your mouth...it does get into your body. Also, a massage therapist told me once that our skin is a digestive agent, meaning that what you put on your skin gets into your system. (She told me to use plant and animal based oils instead of petroleum based oils for that reason.)

So, here is the question. Does it matter what you put on your skin? I would like to know what others think.

The rest of the replies were fairly consistent. Most people use Palmolive or Ajax for washing dishes. Several use Dr. Bronner's Castille soaps for washing themselves and for cleaning. Several others recommended www.gfsoaps.com which is a great resource.

Thank you to all who replied. It was kind of you!
